First of all, we promise it's not you. Well, mostly. CLUTCH works incredibly well but like any tool it needs to be used the right way to get the best result. If it didn't hold the way you expected, one of these is almost definitely why 👇
Did I apply too much?
This one surprises people! Too much glue actually makes it harder to dry and if it doesn't dry properly it won't bond properly. You don't need a thick layer. You need a thin even layer spread generously across the area with the applicator head. Coverage is everything, volume is not.
Did I apply too little?
On the flip side, a tiny dot in one spot won't cut it either. Use the applicator head to smear CLUTCH around so your clothes have a big surface area to hold onto. The more spread you get the stronger the hold. Be generous with how far you take it.
Did I give it enough time to dry?
This is the most common one. CLUTCH is not super glue and it needs time to do its thing. Give it at least 10 minutes to dry completely before you test the hold or press your fabric down. If you rush this step the bond won't be anywhere near as strong as it should be. Patient people get the best results!
Did I moisturise beforehand?
Moisturiser, body oil, fake tan and sunscreen all create a barrier between CLUTCH and your skin which seriously impacts the hold. Either skip moisturising the area you're planning to apply CLUTCH to, or apply your moisturiser after you've already CLUTCH'd. Dry clean skin is always going to give you the best bond.
Is my fabric particularly thin?
Thin fabrics like silk and satin need a slightly different approach. Apply a thinner layer than usual to a much larger surface area and leave it even longer to get tacky before gently placing the fabric down. This stops the glue seeping through and gives you a clean hold 🫶🏻
Am I in a very hot or sweaty environment?
CLUTCH is sweat resistant but extreme heat can slow down the initial bonding process. If you're applying in a hot environment give it a little extra dry time. Once it's fully bonded you're good to go no matter how warm it gets.
